Scaling & Polishing
A professional clean that protects your gums.
Removes hardened plaque, tartar and stains that brushing cannot, keeping gums healthy and breath fresh.
Over time, soft plaque hardens into tartar (calculus) along the gum line. It cannot be brushed away and is a major cause of bleeding gums, bad breath and gum disease.
Scaling uses gentle ultrasonic vibration to lift tartar from the teeth, and polishing smooths the surface so stains and plaque find it harder to stick again.

Common questions
Does scaling weaken teeth?
No. Scaling removes deposits, not tooth structure. Slight sensitivity for a day or two is normal.
How often should I get it done?
Most people benefit from a professional clean every six months; your dentist may advise more often if you have gum disease.
Will my gaps get bigger?
Gaps between teeth were already there — tartar was filling them. Your dentist can suggest options if they bother you.
